The mission of the Greenville Public Schools' security department is to facilitate the development and maintenance of a comprehensive security and safely program designed to foster an environment wherein students, educators, parents, and others legitimately on school district properties can function without fear of personal violence, harassment, anxiety or hatred, while working together to educate all children for all times.
During the 1999-2000 school year, the Greenville Public
School Districts' Board of Trustees created the position of chief of security.
Members selected Marvin Minor, former Chief of Police for the City of Greenville, and
instructed him to undertake a total upgrade of the district's
security program.
