The Greenville Public School District
maintains a strong community involvement through extensive business and
industry participation and parental and community volunteers.
About 175 Greenville and Washington County businesses, civic
organizations, churches, and individuals play instrumental roles in our
schools and in the lives of the district's students. These public
education supporters donate both human and financial resources by
providing incentives for students who have improved in attendance,
academics, behavior, citizenship, etc.; by offering career shadowing
opportunities, by donating used or surplus equipment and supplies, by
serving as judges for school events, or by sharing a book or information
about themselves with students, and in many other ways.
The district's volunteer program is designed to improve student
performance by having volunteers come in and offer motivational
speeches, career seminars, and personal and self-esteem sessions.
Volunteers do make a positive difference in the lives of GPSD children.
District parents and PTSA members make up a growing force of school
volunteers. You can find them assisting in the classroom, on the
playground, helping in the library, and chaperoning field trips. |
