Mission

The mission of Greenville Public Schools is to provide all students with a quality education that adheres to rigorous and challenging standards so that they will experience success and become productive members of society.

 

 

Mr. Eugene McCray
Vice-President

Eugene McCray, Jr. believes, "With perseverance and hard work, anything is achievable." Mr. McCray is a product of Greenville who entered the armed forces after high school graduation, serving his country during the Korean Conflict. After his return home, he earned a degree from Alcorn State College and a Masters Degree from Delta State, built a real estate investment company, and spent 30 years in local education - the last 16 years at Mississippi Valley State University as an associate professor.

Mr. Henri Tillmon
Board Member

Henri Tillmon believes that, "Our children are our greatest resource and that education is the vehicle by which we can maximize these resources." The native of West Point, Mississippi is a disease intervention specialist senior with the Mississippi State Department of Health, Washington County. After earning his B.S. degree from Hampton University, Mr. Tillmon began his public health training and certification with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and the Chicago Department of Health.

Ms. Catherine M. Gardner
President

Board of Trustees member Catherine M. Gardner accepted appointment to the board in March, 2004. Her three children are products of the Greenville Public Schools and she has involved herself in the GPSD for over 15 years as a parent and member of the PTSA. Ms. Gardner, who attended Mississippi Valley State University, is the owner/operator of a local business and also is employed at the Greenville/Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau. She says, "My interests are and have always been in the attainment of giving our children the best chance at an excellent education and a safe environment.

Mr. Jerry Hafter
Board Member

Jerry Hafter offers unique leadership to the Board of Trustees following his distinguished record of educational and professional achievements which began at Greenville High School. He graduated with academic honors with a B. A. from Rice University and his B.A/M.A. from Oxford University before earning a Juris Doctorate fro Yale Law School. Mr. Hafter is a practicing attorney who also contributes his energy to numerous local, state and national boards and civic organizations. He is the board's past president.
