Mission

The mission of Greenville Public Schools is to provide all students with a quality education that adheres to rigorous and challenging standards so that they will experience success and become productive members of society.

 

 

Dress Code Regulations

NOTE: All people entering the Alternative Learning Center are subject to a security check.

 

The following regulations must be observed by all students attending the Alternative Learning Center. Clothing should positively reflect the image of students who are consciously aware of the impact that dress has on attitude and behavior.

 

bulletNot wear or bring hats, caps, or bandanas. This applies to males and females.
bulletNot wear see-through clothing (wind suit pants or chiffon tops).
bulletNot wear clothing advertising sex, drugs, alcohol, intoxicants, tobacco, or gangs.
bulletNot carry book bags or backpacks inside the building.
bulletHave hair styles that are neatly groomed and free of symbols and designs.
bulletNot wear earrings or nose rings. This applies to males and females.
bulletNot have slashed eyebrows.
bulletNot wear coats and jackets inside the building. Students may wear a cardigan sweater for comfort.
bulletWear nails short and well-groomed.
bulletNot wear thighs or leggings. All garments must be relaxed fit.
bulletNo radios, cassette players and cassettes, CD players and CDs, jam boxes, headphones, beepers, portable phones, etc.
bulletNo money except what is needed for a child that pays for lunch.
bulletIf student must have a house key to return home, the key must be left in office until time to leave school.
bulletNo purses or wallets are allowed.
bulletNo jewelry is allowed. Anything confiscated from the front door will be picked up by a parent at the end of the week.
bulletCanes or walking type umbrellas are not allowed inside the school or on the bus.
bulletGlove(s) are not allowed to be worn inside of the building.
bulletBelts must be buckled properly at all times.
bulletWhite/Black/Gray shoe strings only. This applies to males and females.
bulletIf pants have belt loops, belts must be worn.
bulletShoes with sock/hose/knee highs must be worn at all times.
bulletSunglasses are not allowed to be worn inside the building unless a physician's written prescription is on file in the office.
bulletLong pants with splits are not permitted.
bulletNo pants leg can be worn rolled up.
bulletPants must be worn at the proper height around the waist at all times - No "low-ride" pants are allowed.
bulletAll outer garments must be no higher than 2 inches above the knee.
bulletBase school colors must be the same for winter gear. Pullover sweater and sweat shirts are permissible. No symbols, writing, etc.

If there is any doubt, the Director of the Alternative Learning Center will make a final judgment as to whether a student is properly groomed and dressed.

 

These regulations are not designed to punish or take away a student's freedom. These regulations are to assure all students/staff members the highest degree of safety and create a learning environment free from distractions.
